To a Caring Parent,

Hi, my name is Adam Gulla.

I'd like to tell you the stories of four kinds of kids that I've seen walk through the doors of my Martial Arts academy time and time again.

Then, afterward, I'd like to tell you about how this program transformed their lives. And the joy their parents got from seeing the incredible transformations.

Our classes are not all about punching and kicking! Instead, we place a strong focus on mental and personal development. We show children how to finish fights, not how to start them.

(Please note: On this page I say “he” a lot when talking about kids – but that's just to keep things simple. Martial Arts is just as much for girls as it is for boys!)

Even though Johnny, Rick, Jim, and Rebecca are fictional - their stories are based off of very real ones. In fact, I can't tell you how many times parents have come in and told me almost these exact stories. Word for word.

But after just a few weeks of martial arts, this is what happens…

  • Clear Focus

In martial arts, we have kids do one thing at a time. For younger kids, and kids with severe ADD, they may only do one thing for 30 seconds – but for that 30 seconds that's all they focus on.

Then, the better and better they get at focusing, the longer we have them focus for. Eventually, kids might focus the entire session on just one exercise or activity.

And they never get bored or antsy.

Before you know it, they do this at home too. They focus on their homework… on their chores… on conversations with you… and anything else they put their mind to.

  • Determined to Succeed

From Day 1 in martial arts your child sets goals, and accomplishes them. The more and more he does this – the more ambitious he becomes.

Eventually he learns to set higher goals – and he learns to go after them with everything he's got.

He learns that fulfillment and respect are earned through completing challenges.

Because of this, kids who go through martial arts are much more likely to succeed later in life as well. A recent study showed that 63% of black belts become college graduates!

They then go on to live wonderful, fulfilling lives. And then they pass these principles onto their own children.

  • Finally Paying Attention

Parents of children with attention problems breathe sighs of relief after just a few short weeks.

That's because in martial arts – we teach kids to look people in the eyes when they're being spoken to. We teach them that this is how you show people you're listening, and paying attention.

After just a few short weeks, kids naturally begin doing this at home. And in school.

Parents and teachers often look at each other with wide-eyes when they reflect on the changes. They can't believe how much better their children pay attention.

  • Completing Tasks the First Time He's Asked

In martial arts, we have just a few simple rules. One of those rules is that when your child is asked to do something – he does it the first time.

We never yell at kids, or scold them, if they don't do this. But every kid does it because he sees the other kids in the class doing it too. And he wants to make friends and be a part of the group.

It's usually a matter of a couple weeks before kids start doing this at home, too. I can't tell you how many parents have thanked me profusely when it starts to happen.

For parents of children who have a hard time following directions – this is truly a blessing.

  • Self-Respect

When it comes to bullies, kids in martial arts don't back down. They have the confidence to look a bully in the eyes, and stand their ground.

This is what nearly always happens…

The bully gets scared and backs down!

It happens 9 times out of 10. And for the 1 time out of 10 the bully doesn't back down – your child has the tools to defend himself. And if necessary, he'll be able to get away, and seek out an authority figure.

Most confrontations can be talked through. Occasionally, however, words aren't enough. For either situation your child will be prepared.

No one will be able to hurt him, or take anything away from him.

  • Weight loss

It's easy these days for kids to not exercise. As a result, many children experience weight problems at a young age.

  • Martial Arts is an amazing form of exercise

Your child will be active the entire time. But there's no pressure on him to do anything he can't.

We'll encourage him to do his best – but this isn't boot camp or anything.

Most importantly, he'll have a ton of fun.

They will also learn how to control their emotions and find peaceful resolutions to confrontation.

Equip your child to protect themselves from bullies and give them the valuable skills that are crucial to creating a happy, successful life. Prepares your child to defend themselves if the need ever arises.

There are honestly countless other benefits kids get with material arts.

But rather than tell you about myself  - just listen to what these parents had to say..

But after just few weeks of martial arts, this is what happens...

Susan Fong, Mother of Zavier, 7

I researched a number of martial arts and Krav Maga was the one we were most happy about as it had a great team and class structure. The teaching principles of a warrior were appealing, the Self-defence, Discipline, Respect, and Building and individuals self-esteem ultimately made us join the club.

I would definitely recommend Krav most definitely. We feel it has met all expectations and has a welcoming and beautiful family environment. Zavier absolutely loves going to training.

Salinah, Mother of Ashanti, 11

Since Ashanti has been doing Krav Maga her confidence is noticeable and she is less shy. She tried various styles until we found Krav and we knew straight away that it was the one! Not only has Ashanti benefited in learning how to defend herself but she has met friends and is starting to open up as an independent girl!

I would recommend Krav Maga to anyone and everyone!! Everyone has a right to be able to defend themselves!!

Thank you for all your commitment in making Ashanti the best she can be!

Samantha Wight, Mother of James, 9

My 9 year old son hasn't stopped practicing his moves since his trial this morning. We loved every aspect of the class, from the fitness component, through to the self-defence and the self-confidence building. The kids are clearly leaning a skill while having a lot of fun with some great role models. My son can't wait to get his uniform and join the club. Thank you!

Natasha, Mother of Felix, 7

We wanted to give Felix the opportunity to be involved in a club with strong male role models that value health, fitness and integrity .The benefits we have seen include increased confidence, more friends, a sense of belonging and mate ship. We have also noticed an increase in Felix’s strength and agility.

It really is a great environment to build kids self-control, confidence. Most importantly it is good to learn about ‘not’ fighting and how to avoid fighting…which was a pleasant surprise!
I trusted you Adam, as you are a school teacher with a family and that you run a successful, organised and reputable service.

Felix’s confidence and self-discipline has significantly improved.

  • "How long is a class?"

The classes differ by age group; 30 minutes for Tiny Warriors and 45 minutes for mini warriors up until teen warriors.

  • "What are the age groups?"

It's really important that we divide children according to their age group because they learn better physically, safer and mentally they're growing much more peacefully out of their own age. So, we split up the classes according to these age groups:

Tiny Warriors 3-4 Years Old
Mini Warriors 4-6 Years Old
Little Warriors 7-9 Years Old
Warriors 10-12 Years Old
Teen Warriors 13-16 Years Old

  • "Do I need any experience before I start?"

No, not at all. Most kids come into class with no experience and learn skills quickly

Krav Maga is a simple system that enables you to learn fast and will have you excited to come back for more.

  • "What is covered in a class?"

Most classes follow a similar structure:

  • Creating rituals and great habits (making sure the gym is tidy and clean before we start)
  • We start and finish every single class with a meditation
  • Self defence solutions, 30 minutes
  • Warriors corner - (every single week we review different principles of being a warrior and relate a story of a black-belt warrior in Krav Maga who had many fantastic traits and relate it back to the child's current situation or challenges that they may be facing at the moment)
  • Strength coordination
  • Striking Skills
  • Dealing with Bullies
  • Dealing with strangers
  • Heaps of Fun
  • "What are the benefits of training?"
  • Keeping fit
  • Improved endurance and strength
  • Enjoyment and social benefits
  • Learn a form of self defence and how to appropriately deal with confrontation
  • Tone up
  • Weight loss
  • Confidence
  • "What should I bring to class?"

For you first class, all you need to bring is a water bottle, towel, and clothes that you feel comfortable training in. We train with our shoes on so bring a pair of runners.

After your first class, we will have some gear for you to purchase, including a Krav Maga training shirt, pants and belt. If they do an extension class or a student is a Teen Warrior, they may need to purchase some protection gear.

  • "What is the cost?"

The cost depends on how often you train and your level of commitment. We have many different memberships depending on your training. Please book in a trial with us or give us a call so we can discuss the payments with you.

  • "How often should I train?"

I would recommend training twice-a-week is ideal for children to get started.
